Our Story

Alex Martirosyan grew up on Glenoaks Boulevard in Glendale, three blocks from the Broadway strip where his parents ran a small tailoring shop. He was always the kid taking things apart — clock radios, VCRs, his mother’s sewing machine (she was not amused). By high school at Hoover, he was fixing neighbors’ window AC units for twenty bucks a pop.

After graduating, Alex took a job with a large national appliance service company that handled warranty work across the San Fernando Valley. The pay was decent and the training was excellent — he earned certifications on every major brand, from Whirlpool and GE to Sub-Zero and Thermador. But the company ran on volume, not quality. Technicians were expected to close eight to ten calls a day. There was no time to explain things to customers, no time to do the job right, and no incentive to try.

“I’d show up at someone’s house and they’d already be frustrated because the last tech rushed through and didn’t fix it,” Alex says. “I’d fix it properly, but then my supervisor would call and ask why I spent 45 minutes on a job that should’ve taken 20. That’s when I knew I had to go out on my own.”

In 2011, Alex took his savings, bought a used Chevy Express van, loaded it with parts, and started Top Tech Appliance Repair. His first shop was a rented garage bay off San Fernando Road. His wife Narine handled the books and the phones. Their first week, they got three calls — all from neighbors who already knew Alex’s work. By the end of the first year, word of mouth had them booked solid.

Fifteen years and more than 6,000 completed jobs later, Top Tech has grown into a team of five full-time technicians with 10 brand certifications between them. But Alex still answers his own phone, still goes out on calls, and still won’t let a technician leave a job site until the customer is completely satisfied.

The Team

Alex Martirosyan — Founder & Lead Technician. 15+ years of hands-on experience. Certified on 10 major appliance brands including Sub-Zero, Thermador, and Bosch. Still personally handles the trickiest diagnostic calls.

Armen Hovhannisyan — Senior Technician, with Top Tech since 2014. Specializes in refrigerators and freezers — commercial and residential. Factory-trained on Samsung and LG cooling systems. Covers most of our Glendale and La Crescenta routes.

Vahe Grigoryan — Technician, with the team since 2016. Our washer and dryer expert. Certified on Speed Queen commercial laundry equipment. Handles Burbank, Toluca Lake, and North Hollywood calls.

Sarkis Petrosyan — Technician, joined in 2018. Specializes in ovens, stoves, cooktops, and range hoods. Expert in gas appliance diagnostics and repair. Covers Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge.

David Ramirez — Technician, joined in 2020. Handles dishwashers, microwaves, and general appliance repair across all service areas. Bilingual English/Spanish.

Our Approach

We do three things differently than the big companies:

1. We diagnose before we quote. Our service call starts at just $45, and we waive it entirely if you go ahead with the repair. We’ll tell you exactly what’s wrong, what it costs to fix, and whether we honestly think the repair is worth it versus replacing the appliance. No pressure, no surprises.

2. We stock common parts on our trucks. Our vans carry the most common failure parts for every major brand. That means about 70% of repairs get completed on the first visit — same day, no waiting two weeks for a part to ship.

3. We guarantee our work. Every repair comes with a 90-day warranty on parts and labor. If the same issue comes back within that window, we come back and fix it at no charge. Period.

We’re based at 416 W Broadway, right in the heart of Glendale. We serve Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, La Crescenta, La Canada Flintridge, Eagle Rock, North Hollywood, Toluca Lake, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Sun Valley, and Atwater Village.

Most of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals. After 6,000+ jobs and 15 years in the community, we think that says more about us than any advertisement could.
